Mountain biking, trail running, swimming... Welcome to the world of XTERRA France.

A benchmark event in the heart of the Vosges mountains

XTERRA France is an unmissable event on the global off-road triathlon circuit. Held every year since 2010 at Lake Xonrupt-Longemer, a stone's throw from Gérardmer, it brings together the best international athletes and hundreds of enthusiasts for a whole weekend to experience a unique sporting adventure. This nature triathlon, renowned for the technicality of its courses and the beauty of its surroundings, has become one of the most beautiful XTERRA events in the world.

XTERRA France: races for all levels

Saturday morning – Swimrun (2.8km swim and 13km trail run)
A demanding combination of swimming and trail running, totaling 13km of running and nearly 3km of swimming, in the mountains and trails around the lake. A complete immersion in the spirit of nature and challenge of XTERRA, to be shared with a partner. This event is carried out in pairs, reinforcing the spirit of mutual aid and coordination throughout the course between swimming and trail running.

Saturday morning – XTERRA Superkids
Reserved for toddlers, this fun mini-triathlon is done on balance bikes or small bikes, with a dip in the water to kick off the adventure. A great way to introduce triathlon to children from a young age.

Saturday afternoon – XTERRA Kids & Mini-Kids
(swimming: 200 m / 100 m – mountain biking: 2.5 km / 1.5 km – running: 1.8 km / 0.9 km)
Children follow the forest trails around the lake, just like the grown-ups, in a format perfectly suited to their age. A real moment of sport and fun in the heart of nature.

Sunday morning – XTERRA Discovery (500 m swim – 20 km mountain biking – 5 km trail running)
Open to all, this format allows you to enjoy the XTERRA experience in an accessible setting. You will follow part of the same route as the elite athletes, through forest paths and technical trails typical of the Vosges mountains.

Sunday afternoon – XTERRA France (1.5 km swim – 40 km mountain bike – 10 km trail run)
The highlight of the weekend. Elite international athletes compete alongside amateurs in a demanding, intense, and unforgettable race. The mountain bike and trail run course, with its steep elevation changes, is a complete challenge in the heart of the Vosges mountains.

New for 2025: new events to discover
The 2025 edition of XTERRA France promises to be even more exciting, with the arrival of new disciplines open to all, still in the same spirit of nature, sport, and adventure.

  • Schlitte Paddle – A fun and original paddle race on Lake Xonrupt-Longemer, accessible to all. A great opportunity to discover the lake in a different way, gliding through the heart of the Vosges mountains.
  • Individual Swimrun Sprint – A new, shorter format for solo swimrun enthusiasts, combining swimming and trail running sections at a faster pace. An ideal option for beginners or those looking to push their limits in a more condensed format.
  • E-Terra – XTERRA is also going electric with an event dedicated to electric mountain bikes. On the program: a 300-meter swim, 25-kilometer electric mountain bike ride, and 2.5-kilometer trail run for an accessible but equally immersive experience. A great alternative for discovering off-road triathlon in a different way.
